Eligibility requirements
- Demonstrated financial need: The applicant’s family must provide proof of income, assets, and expenses to demonstrate their inability to afford the full cost of residential treatment without assistance. This may include tax returns, pay stubs, or a written statement detailing their financial situation.
- Diagnosis of a substance use disorder: The applicant must have a formal diagnosis of a substance use disorder by a qualified healthcare professional, such as a psychiatrist, psychologist, or addiction specialist.
- Recommendation for residential treatment: The applicant must provide documentation from a healthcare professional or addiction counselor stating that residential treatment is the most appropriate level of care for their specific needs.
- Commitment to recovery: The applicant should demonstrate a genuine desire to recover from their substance use disorder and actively participate in the treatment process. This may be assessed through a written statement, an interview, or letters of support from family members or counselors.
- Age and residency requirements: 13-17 years of age and a US citizen.
- Insurance status: If applicable, the applicant must have exhausted all available insurance benefits for substance abuse treatment or provide documentation proving that their insurance plan does not cover residential treatment.
- No other financial resources: The applicant must demonstrate that they have exhausted all other possible financial resources for treatment, such as personal savings, loans from family or friends, or community-based funding programs.
- Compliance with program requirements: The applicant must agree to comply with all requirements and expectations of the residential treatment program and the financial aid program, such as attending regular therapy sessions, participating in support groups, and maintaining communication with their case manager or financial aid coordinator.
- Agreement to participate in aftercare: The applicant should commit to participating in an aftercare program upon completing the residential treatment to support their long-term recovery and ensure the best use of financial aid resources.
Application process and deadlines
Step 1: Research and Information Gathering
Visit the Trinity Recovery Foundation website to gather information about the financial aid program, eligibility requirements, and application deadlines.
Step 2: Obtain Required Documentation
Collect all necessary documentation, including proof of income, assets, expenses, and a formal diagnosis of a substance use disorder from a qualified healthcare professional. Also, obtain a recommendation letter for residential treatment and any other required documentation.
Step 3: Complete the Application Form
Fill out the financial aid application form from the Trinity Recovery Foundation website.

Request letters of support from family members, friends, counselors, or other individuals familiar with the applicant’s situation. These letters can strengthen the application by providing additional insights into the applicant’s need for financial aid and commitment to recovery.
Step 6: Submit the Application Package
Review the application form, personal statement, and all supporting documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Submit the application package to the Trinity Recovery Foundation by the specified deadline, either electronically via email.
Step 7: Application Review and Response
Wait for the Trinity Recovery Foundation to review the application. This process may take several hours or weeks, depending on the volume of applications received. Please let us know the urgency of your application when presenting your story.
A phone or video interview will be scheduled to “meet” the applicant.
The foundation will notify the applicant of their decision, either through email or phone call. If approved, we will provide further instructions on how to access the financial aid and the next steps for enrolling in a residential treatment program.
Step 8: Follow-up and Reporting (if required)
If awarded financial aid, follow any reporting requirements set by the Trinity Recovery Foundation, such as providing progress updates during the treatment program or participating in follow-up surveys.

Program Requirements
Trinity Recovery Foundation is committed to providing grants to individuals seeking treatment at facilities that meet the following program criteria:
Christ-centered Counseling: The facility must offer Christ-centered counseling as a central component of their treatment approach.
Professional Counseling Staff: The facility must employ licensed counselors who hold at least a master’s degree in counseling, with a preference for those specializing in marriage and family therapy.
Appropriate Patient/Counselor Ratios: The facility must maintain patient-to-counselor ratios deemed suitable by the Trinity Recovery Foundation’s board of directors to ensure individualized attention and support.
Minimum 90-day Residential Program: The facility must offer a minimum 90-day residential program. The board may consider shorter programs for issues other than substance abuse on a case-by-case basis.
Family Therapy Inclusion: When appropriate, the facility should incorporate family therapy into their treatment approach to equip families with the necessary skills to support their loved ones in recovery.
We are open to providing assistance for various types of addiction, as long as the treatment facility meets the criteria outlined above.
Eligible Services for Financial Assistance:
Residential Treatment: Funding for a minimum of 90 days of residential stay at an approved facility.
Extended Care Programs: Financial assistance for extended care programs following the completion of the residential treatment.
Therapy Intensives: Support for intensive therapy sessions designed for individuals or families to address the dynamics leading to addiction and promote Christ-centered homes.
Individual or Family Counseling: Funding to offset the cost of individual or family counseling sessions aimed at addressing the underlying issues contributing to addiction and fostering a supportive home environment.
